Bansko is a cozy, small town located in the valley of the Pirin Mountain. The town welcomes its guests with its meandering cobblestone streets and massive wooden gates. We, the local people of Bansko, have kept the traditions of our town and throughout the centuries it has preserved its historic, folklore and cultural values. The mountain resort is famous for its unique architecture and beautiful stone ornamented houses. The schools of woodcarving and icon drawing are famours for their originality. Bansko is the gate to the Pirin Mountain. The old part of Bansko is situated in the center of the town, where you will find the “Sveta Troitsa” church, “Velyanovata Kashta” and the museum of Neofit Rilski. There is a lot more to explore and we are looking to hear about your personal findings and experiences. Just a few kilometers away from Bansko you can find the mineral water springs of Banya and Dobrishte. Driving along the valley towards the Rila Mountain reveals the village of Dobursko. A legend tells that Bansko and Dobursko were established by two brothers looking for pastures for their flocks.
